First Forward Jump to 2041
What Happened
Near the end of Five Seconds Too Late, the device does something it has never done before: it jumps the team forward instead of back. What they find in 2041 is never fully resolved on the page—the jump is cut short, and the timeline it revealed is erased by the events that follow, leaving only fragments of what they saw.
Historical Context
This is the only forward jump in Book 1, and the only destination in the entire book that doesn't correspond to a real historical or personal event—it's a possible future, glimpsed and then closed off. Its status as an \"erased branch\" means the specifics of what the team witnessed are deliberately left unconfirmed by later books.
The Five Seconds Connection
In Five Seconds Too Late, this jump closes out the book on a note of open dread rather than resolution—proof that the device can reach forward as easily as back, and that whatever future it showed them may or may not still be waiting. The 2041 branch is referenced obliquely in later books but never fully reopened, keeping its details part of the archive's unresolved record.
